Our story

The VERDEinMED project was born from the need to address the growing challenge of textile waste and promote recycling, sustainable production and circular economy practices across the Mediterranean region.

Launched in January 2024, the project initially brought together 10 partners from seven countries to develop and test solutions supporting a more sustainable textile sector. Following its selection for the Interreg Euro-MED Fast Lane “Test to Transfer” procedure, VERDEinMED has expanded its partnership to 14 project partners and 19 associated organisations.

The Transfer Phase welcomes four new project partners: Sarajevo Regional Development Agency (SERDA) from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Waste Cluster of Catalonia (CREC) from Spain, Consortium of University Studies in Industrial and Managerial Economics (CUEIM) from Italy, and TexCycle SA from Bulgaria. Together with the existing consortium, they will contribute to adapting and transferring the project’s tested solutions to new territories, strengthening transnational cooperation and supporting their long-term uptake.

As a Thematic Project of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, VERDEinMED collaborates with the Interreg Results Amplification Strategy to facilitate the exploitation, sharing and reuse of knowledge and project results, encourage the transfer of practices and solutions to other actors and territories, and strengthen coordination among stakeholders across the Mediterranean region.

Building on this approach, the Transfer Phase follows a giver–receiver model, bringing together partners with experience in developing and testing VERDEinMED solutions and organisations in new territories. Through mutual learning, knowledge exchange and co-creation, they will work together to adapt the project’s Support Service to different regional needs and facilitate its long-term uptake.

This cooperation aims to strengthen local capacities, foster collaboration between public authorities, businesses and other relevant stakeholders, and support the transition towards a more sustainable and circular textile sector in the Mediterranean.
