What we do

VERDEinMED promotes the transition towards a circular textile and clothing sector in the Mediterranean by supporting sustainable production and consumption, reducing textile waste and strengthening cooperation between businesses, public authorities, consumers and other relevant stakeholders.

During its Test Phase, the project focused on developing and testing an integrated Support Service addressing the needs of different actors across the textile value chain. This included activities related to circular business models, knowledge sharing, technical assistance, consumer engagement and policy development, supported by tools such as the Knowledge Platform, the VERDE Bussola and regional VERDE Hubs.

Following this initial phase, VERDEinMED is now focused on transferring its tested solutions to new territories through the Interreg Euro-MED Fast Lane “Test to Transfer” procedure. The Transfer Phase aims to adapt the Support Service to different territorial, institutional and market contexts, strengthen local capacities and support the integration of circular textile solutions into existing policies, services and operational practices.

Objectives and tasks

The VERDEinMED project is structured into four Work Packages (WPs), covering the development and testing of circular textile solutions and their subsequent transfer to new Mediterranean territories.

  • Work Package 1 (WP1): Reforming the industry by using sustainable and circular practices. Focuses on promoting circular business models, developing the VERDE Bussola and Knowledge Platform, and strengthening knowledge and capacities through training activities.

  • Work Package 2 (WP2): Orientation of demand towards conscious consumption. Focuses on engaging businesses, consumers and public authorities through the Support Service, technical assistance, Living Labs, awareness-raising initiatives and capacity-building activities.

  • Work Package 3 (WP3): Framework to support the transition of the textile sector. Focuses on supporting public authorities through evidence-based policy recommendations, regional and national strategies, and transition pathways towards a circular textile economy.

  • Work Package 4 (WP4): Transfer Phase. Builds on the solutions developed and tested during the previous Work Packages, focusing on their adaptation and transfer to new territories. Activities include the development of a Transfer Toolkit, territorial needs assessments, co-creation, stakeholder engagement, training and capacity building, and measures to support institutional uptake and long-term sustainability.
